A unique German Espionage attempt

 

A Party of two men, Erich Gimpel and William Colepaugh, landing in the night of 29 November 1944,

on the shore of Frenchman's Bay, in the US State Maine

dropped there by the German Submarine U 1230

Their aim was going to New York, which they actually have reached.

This story does rely mainly on historical FBI interrogation materials.
